What rules should be followed when wearing a mask?
Wearing a surgical or even homemade mask alone may not help reduce the risk of the mask wearer becoming infected. In addition to wearing a mask, it is important to follow other preventive measures such as thorough hand washing and hand disinfection.
Hands must be thoroughly cleaned before picking up the mask.
The mask must be properly face-facing – nose covered and edges closed as tight as possible.
The mask must not be damp (a damp mask should be changed, approximately every 2-3 hours).
When removing the mask, place the mask in a trash can or washing machine (cloth mask) or thermostat for decontamination. A used mask left on a shelf can spread the virus as a dust contaminant and is therefore dangerous for people in the room.
The mask must be worn by all people in public places or in case of unavoidable close contact. It is important that the mask is fitted, worn and removed correctly. Hands must be disinfected after removal.
